Every time I see these vacation pictures of Conrad Murray from last summer I get sick to my stomach, but this is an ironic pose isn't it? I have seen many tweets recently stating that instead of a posthumous CD, video game or Cirque show, they want to see justice for Michael Jackson. It's the one thing all fans agree on; justice. The vast majority of MJ fans want to see Conrad Murray pay for the death of our beloved Michael. So while some fans rejoice at the new material coming out from the Michael Jackson estate, we also brace ourselves for the upcoming trial to begin on January 4, 2011. With this in the back of my mind, I started researching just exactly what was going on with Conrad Murray. Posted yesterday on TMZ, an article's headline reads: "Conrad Murray Hangs On to Medical License". After reading the article, TMZ states that "this all stems from issues related to child support he owed his baby mama....According to Murray's rep, the telephonic meeting ends their inquiry into Dr. Murray."
Hmmmm...something didn't sound right to me at this point. So the Nevada Medical Board has issues with unpaid child support, but has no problem with Murray transporting propofol over state lines, administering propofol in a home setting, or with the death of another human being? So as I click back on my pc to resume researching, I read the headline that Google has for the TMZ article. This headline is different than the link above, and it states, "Dr. Conrad Murray Sanctioned by Nevada Medical Board".
From the channel 8 website out of Nevada, an article titled "Medical Board Hears High Profile Cases" gives a more accurate description of Murray's license status. "The board announced a settlement Friday. Dr. Murray admits to wrongdoing and will have a reprimand on his state record. He will also have to pay the cost of the state investigation against him." The article also states that although "he is facing involuntary manslaughter charges for his role in (Michael Jackson's) death, Dr. Murray keeps his Nevada medical license for now." This is in direct conflict with what TMZ reported Dr. Murray's rep stated, that the Nevada Medical Board's issue stemmed from child support issues. Murray admitted to wrongdoing in the death of Michael Jackson, and yet was merely reprimanded by a medical board.
There are two issues here. The first is that the media continues to distort the facts that surround Michael Jackson, even nearly a year and a half after his death. The second is that Dr. Conrad Murray admitted wrongdoing. Jackson's family, friends and fans have known that Murray committed illegal activity with regard to administering propofol to Michael Jackson for 18 months.A few weeks after Michael died, I remember reading an article about Ed Chernoff, the attorney Murray retained within days of MJ's death. The article, entitled "Best Course of Treatment: Representing Michael Jackson's Personal M.D." is a must read for Jackson fans. Among the highlights of the article:
1. Conrad Murray had to wire $600 to Chernoff for the flight from Texas to California because Chernoff believed Murray's request to retain him was a hoax.
2. On the morning of June 29, 2009, Chernoff, his partners and his PR team blitzed the TV news shows in Houston with their information about Murray. "Chernoff believe the blitz that Monday helped his client. Sevcik (PR person) says before the media interviews, she looked at roughly 100 comments posted on 20 different web sites and only 25% of those comments said that Murray was an innocent bystander in Jackson's death. After the Monday media appearances by Chernoff...that figure rose to 75%, Sevcik said...The message is expecially important in case Murray is charged with a crime; because it will improve Murray's chances of an unbiased jury pool and getting a fair trial."
Personally, this just sounds like a PR stunt to sway public opinion in favor of Murray, no matter whether he is guilty or not. When the horrid articles surfaced stating that Murray's defense was going to be based on Jackson self-injecting, my research partner told me the same thing. PR puts something out there, and then reads what public opinion will be to see if the public buys the defense or not. Nobody is buying that defense, Dr. Murray.
Jackson fans, keep in mind that the media has no integrity and especially with regard to Michael Jackson. And to Dr. Conrad Murray, we have not forgotten you. We will anxiously await your involuntary manslaughter trial and we will continue to fight for justice for Michael Jackson. You, Dr. Murray, are responsible for more pain than you could ever imagine. No matter how long it takes, in the end Dr. Murray, you will pay for taking Michael Jackson away from the world. Physician, heal thyself and tell the truth.

I have been wondering when someone was going to remember Murray .... Seems we have been inundated with various odd reports causing division throughout the fan community ... different fan groups fighting over trivial things ... IMO all to keep our mind off of justice .. and Murray ...
Thank You for bringing this back to the forefront .

I read ur billion article and the comments and Bridgett said MJ got 70 mill a year from ATV.
Well i cant remember cos it was along time ago but an article said he actually gets knowhere near that much. I dont know if it was after ATV paid for itself but it was only like 10 to 20 mill.
It made no sense to me but apparently MJ even though he owns half catalog he actually only gets a small owners fee.
Just somethin i heard you have moe research than me. How much does ATV rake in a year if u take the paying for itself out of it?
Hi jpr,
From the Billboard article:
"Jackson's music publishing company, Mijac, is administered by Warner/Chappell. Based on a reported value for Mijac of at least $75 million in 2005, Billboard estimates Mijac currently has a value of around $150 million. At that value, it generates about $25 million per year in revenue. In the last 12 months, according to sources, that number could have doubled to as much as $50 million.
Jackson also owns half of Sony/ATV, formed in 1995 when Sony paid Jackson $90 million for 50% of ATV Music Publishing. Barry Massarsky of Massarsky Consulting says that Sony/ATV is comparable to BMG Music Publishing two years ago when Universal Music Group acquired it for $2 billion. Massarsky estimates Sony/ATV is worth about 80% of BMG at the time of acquisition, or $1.6 billion. Jackson's share is half that, or $800 million. Based on a multiple of eight to 10 times net publisher's share, Jackson's share of the company's revenue is $80 million per year."

According to this article the MJ estate will make roughly $80 million. We know that the estate has refinanced the loan on MJ's half of the ATV, but we don't know how much was on the loan. We do know that according to WSJ, the estate has paid off half of the $75 million loan on MIJAC, or roughly $37.5 million. The estate is set to pay off the other half of the MIJAC loan somewhere around the summer of 2011. This is just my personal opinion, but since the estate was so highly leveraged, I don't think that Branca could make a large payment on the ATV loan. Once MIJAC is paid off, the estate will be able to make larger payments on the ATV loan. So let's say that last year, the estate paid $50 million on the ATV loan. That would leave $220 million, but since MIJAC will be paid in June, and the ATV loan isn't due until the end of the year, the payment on the ATV loan would probably be more like $75 million. Then they would be down to roughly $145 million.
It's such a complicated estate, and because the estate won't publicly release some information, it's really just a guesstimate as to how long it will take to pay off the ATV loan.
Jpr,
One more thing to think about and I have not researched this, but the Beatles tracks which are now available on itunes for $1.29 per single should be a huge source of revenue for the estate. I read somewhere that in the first week of the available Beatles' songs on itunes, they sold 2 million singles and 450,000 albums. That's a LOT of money for Sony and the estate.
Yeah Itunes i was thinking the same that would be good for MJ estate.
I just saw that article a while back and it said something like 20 mill after everything taken away from ATV. I normally dont trust articles but at this time most were saying he only got 4 mill a year which is complete bull.
Just to add if MJ was getting 10 million from ATV it would have been after the loan is paid out that would explain why he had no cash and at the time record sale was down, from all the information I am reading those loan might have been paying for them self, and that would leave MJ cash strap.
Yep we do remember CM and I am still dreaming that he would make a plea and don't drag MJ name in the mud any longer, I guess it going be just a dream.

The medical boards cannot do much now in regards to propofol related issue as Murray isn't yet tried in a court of law and found guilty. You know the rule of "innocent until found guilty". So it's a waiting game. However I believe they will quickly yank Murray's licence when there's a guilty verdict.
The child support related issue was actually smart on Nevada's part. When physicians renew their licences they fill out a form that asks "are you ever convicted", "do you own any child support" etc. Murray had lied on that form (saying that he didn't own any child support when he actually did). So Nevada actually tried to revoke his licence based on a technicality of false statements on a government form.
my2cents,
Do you believe that the "wrongdoing" that Murray admitted to is because he lied to the Nevada Medical Board? I thought it was because he at the very least crossed state lines with propofol or that he had some illegality with that seedy pharmacy in NV. You could be absolutely right though.
please spread this.
Hi Everyone,
This is Barbara at Inner Michael asking a favor...

Justice have you read this I think I may have just stumble on a motive why JB was let go in 2003
Hi Bridgett,
Yes, I read this earlier today. I will have a blog up as soon as I can get through all the information Roberts wrote. I can only imagine what kind of controversy this piece will spark. But...the good thing is that this piece will more than likely verify that Branca DID IN FACT WORK FOR MICHAEL AFTER 2003. I have found some inconsistencies in his piece, as well as the fact that if he wrote the piece in the summer, he did not update it to include the securing of the ATV.
But if you look you will see a motive for why MJ sand JB packing it like I have been saying evil foes have been quit busy trying to reck MJ relationship with JB for a while,
Any way I will leave you to sort it out, but this might just what cast some good light on JB that he was not the one who was out to get MJ.
Yes some is twisting the information as I blog but the important thing is JB was not the one telling MJ to sell.
Very true Bridgett. I also noticed that the letter that Branca wrote to Koppelman specifically has concern for Michael. Roberts insinuates that Branca only has his own interests at heart when he shows the link of the letter with only #6 showing, but when the entire letter is revealed, #s 1-5 are all concerning Michael and his business interests. Can't wait for tomorrow's installment from Roberts.
Thank you again for this blog. However, I believe the alleged "wrongdoing" of Conrad Murray is indeed related to his child support issues in that he stated he was not behind at some point earlier this year - however, he *was* behind at that point. The explanation his lawyers (Charles Peckham) had was that at the time Murray made that statement he was in negotiations with the lawyers of the mother of the child and for this reason he believed he was keeping his obligations. The medical board/the court followed them in that. Murray/his lawyers could never admit to any wrongdoing with regard to the subject of the criminal case in relation to any other court dealings, and then - 5th Amendment...
